What We Do — WildernessLocals, Wildfarm & Our Garden Route Projects

Wilderness is our home. We live and work here — on a working off-grid farm in the
hills above the village — and over the years we’ve built a small family of projects that all point the
same way: show off this piece of the Garden Route, and help the people in it make a living.

So here it all is in one place. Everything below is ours, everything is local, and everything is
made by people who actually live here.

🌿 WildernessLocals — the community guide

Our free guide to the village and the valley around it: what to do, where to eat, where to sleep,
what’s on this week — and a listing board for local businesses.

🏡 Wildfarm Homestead — stay on the farm

Our off-grid homestead and backpackers in Wilderness, a short drive from George: dorm beds, private
rooms, self-catering cottage, a deck built for sunsets, big fires, a pack of farm dogs and free-range
chickens. We also hire the place out for weddings, parties and functions of up to 120 guests.

🔥 BraaiWattle — dry black wattle braai wood

Real dry black wattle, split and ready to burn, delivered across the Garden Route. Full bakkie load
R1 000 — free delivery in Wilderness, R250 George, R300 Knysna, other towns by quote.

🌱 AloeRoots & Knysna Paradise

Two more of ours: AloeRoots grows and sells aloes and
spekboom (the plant that drinks almost nothing), and
Knysna Paradise Guesthouse is our sister stay over in
Knysna.

▶️ On YouTube — the Garden Route in motion

We film what happens here — the drone footage, the animals, the builds, the sunsets. Three channels:

  • @WildernessLocals — drone films of the
Garden Route: beaches, rivers, forests and sunsets
  • @thewildfarmhomestead — real farm
life: the dogs, the chickens, the veld, the guests
  • @offgridtheo — building and living off-grid:
solar, water, and doing it yourself

Subscribe if you like what you see — it’s the easiest way to support a local project.

⭐ Find us, review us, tag us

Our Google listing is where most people find the farm. If we’ve looked after you,
a review helps enormously — it’s how a small
local place gets seen.

🤝 For Garden Route businesses

If you run a business around here and you’re not online properly yet — no website, or a listing
nobody can find — that’s something we do. Getting listed on WildernessLocals is
free for locals, and we also build
websites and set up the practical AI tools that save a small business hours every week:
aizaagent.co.za.

That’s us. Follow along, share this with someone coming to the Garden Route, and if
you’re local — say hello. We’re on the hill above the village, and the kettle’s usually on. ☕
